If you have never tried chanterelles, you are in for a treat! Like most mushrooms, I think they are at their best sauteed in butter. Cook them until they are almost crispy... yum! They are excellent with beef, can be put into pasta sauces, and even freeze well for use later. The chanterelles in your share will not be washed. They keep much better if they are not too wet. Clean them up just before you plan to cook them... and please enjoy!
Also featuring fresh chicken from Houston's Homegrown this week... and the first of the blackberries. This week we have a mix of domestic and wild berries... both are from our farm (Moy Mell). The wild berries are not as sweet as the domestic ones... give them a little drizzle of honey and they are amazing.
Just to let you all know, we are not doing a canned item this week... there are so many wonderful fresh foods available, I wanted to put as many into your shares as possible. If you really miss the jelly, there are some jars available for additional purchase.
