I wanted to mention a bit about radicchio. This week we are putting Virtus into most of our shares. Last week many of you had the Treviso. if you are not familiar with eating radicchio, be aware that this is a green which is excellent cooked, but way too strong for a salad. I like it best sauteed in olive oil, and dressed lightly with balsamic vinegar or balsamic reduction. I have also eaten it grilled, which is good... but I still personally prefer it sauteed:)
I also want to make you all aware that there will be two weeks in August (the 20th and the 27th) that there will be no CSA pick up. We are taking a family vacation during that time. This is why our season will be running through the second week of November. Those of you who pay monthly can choose to pay for half a month in August and half a month in November, or to pay for a month in August and not pay when November comes. Any questions, feel free to contact me.
We are still taking a break from jams and jellies to bring you more fresh produce in your share. Please let me know if this is a problem, and I can adjust your share next week to accommodate the canned item.
